On this page you will find all the important information for installing your Precision Farming demo column with the Raven CRx Guidance Kit components.

Please note that the following instructions assume that you are using the recommended cabling and components (see below).

For more information, contact your CNH Precision Farming Specialist or Sales Manager.

Point of Reference

The instructions in this documentation assume that you are standing in front of the simulator, looking toward the TV screen.

Prepare for Installation

1. Remove the cabinet from the shipping box.

2. Install the top part on top of the bottom part.

Cable Routing and Components Installation

When installing the simulator system, the power cables should always be connected to the power supply after all cables have been routed and connected.

Installing the IBBC Connector

1. Locate the cutout for mounting the IBBC connector on the right side of the cabinet.

2. When preferred, the IBBC connector on the IBBC Power Cable (P/N 115-7300-184) can be separated by disconnecting the 4-pin power connector from the IBBC connector prior to installation.

3. Install the IBBC connector in the mounting location using the supplied M6 hardware:

4x M6x20 Socket Cap Screw (P/N 311-4060-136K)
4x M6 Washer (P/N 313-6000-010K)
4x M6 Lock Nut (P/N 312-6001-017K)

4. Reconnect the 4-pin power connector to the IBBC connector when disconnected at Step 2.

Installing the Speed Simulator Potentiometer

1. Remove the nut and washer from the potentiometer on the Speed Simulator cable (P/N 115-4010-163).

2. Install the potentiometer through the black plastic Speed panel on the left-top of the cabinet, using the washer and nut. Make sure the anti-rotation pin is inserted in the small hole in the plastic panel.

3. Attach the knob (P/N 309-1000-028) to the potentiometer. Tighten the set screw inside the knob to fix it.

Installing the Engage Switch

1. Install the Engage Rocker Switch (P/N 412-2011-111) in the black plastic Engage panel on the right-top of the cabinet.

Installing the DirecSteer Motor

1. Install the DirecSteer motor on the motor bracket using the supplied M5x12 Socket Cap screws (311-4060-090K; 6x).

Note: Orientation of the motor should be as displayed below, so that the motor connector is in the correct position for connecting the cable.

Installing the SC1

1. Locate the mounting location for the SC1 on the shelf inside the cabinet by removing the panel on the back of the lower cabinet.

2. Attach the SC1 to the shelf using tie wraps, with the connectors facing to the back of the cabinet.

Installing the TV

1. Locate the Television mounting location and cable entry on the top part of the cabinet.

2. Remove the back panel from the top part of the cabinet.

3. Mount the television with the supplied hardware.

4. Connect the device power cord to the TV. Route the power cord through the cable entry to the bottom part of the cabinet.

5. Connect the device power cord to the power strip located in the bottom part of the cabinet.

Installing the Field Computers

1. Locate the aluminum display rail on the top part of the cabinet.

2. Install the diamond plate RAM-ball mounts (P/N 103-0001-034; 2x) to the aluminum rail on the top part of the cabinet using the supplied M5 screws (P/N 311-4060-090K; 4x).

3. Mount the Field Computer with a RAM-arm to the RAM-ball.

4. Connect the Console cable (P/N 115-7300-182 for CR12; 115-7300-183 for CR7) to the console.

5. Route the console cable through the cable entry to the bottom part of the cabinet.

Route the Steering Simulator Cables

DirecSteer Motor Cable

1. Connect the DirecSteer Simulator Motor cable (P/N 115-4001-272) to the motor using the circular Motor connector.

2. Route the DirecSteer Simulator Motor cable through the cable entry to the bottom part of the cabinet.

3. Connect the DirecSteer Simulator Motor cable to the DirecSteer Simulator RS1 cable (P/N 115-0172-681) using the 8-pin connectors.

4. Connect the 3-pin connector to mating connector on the Speed Simulator cable (P/N 115-4010-163).

5. Connect the Engage Switch quick connect terminals to pins 1 and 2 on the installed Engage Rocker Switch.

6. Connect the 4-pin CAN2 connector to the mating connector on the SC1 DirecSteer cable (P/N 115-4010-272).

7. Connect the 4-pin ENGAGE/SPEED connector to the mating connector on the SC1 DirecSteer cable (P/N 115-4010-272).

8. Connect the 4-pin ISO CAN connector to the mating ISO CAN connector on the ISO IN-CAB 9P Simulator cable (P/N 115-7300-181).

9. Connect the grey and green 12P connectors on the SC1 DirecSteer cable (P/N 115-4010-272) to the SC1.

10. Connect the 4-pin ISO CAN connector to the mating ISO CAN connector on the ISO IN-CAB 9P Simulator cable (P/N 115-7300-181).

11. Remove the Terminator from the ISO IN-CAB 9P Simulator cable (P/N 115-7300-181).

12. Connect the 4P DT to 6P Weatherpack Adapter cable (P/N 115-0172-695) to the connector previously occupied by the Terminator.

13. Connect the 4P DT to 6P Weatherpack Adapter cable (P/N 115-0172-695) to the IBBC connector.

14. Connect the Console cable (P/N 115-7300-182 for CR12; 115-7300-183 for CR7) to the ISO IN-CAB 9P Simulator cable using the 9-pin connector.

Note: Only one Field Computer can be connected at a time. To connect multiple Field Computers simultaneously, a 9P ISO split cable is required.

Power Supply Connections

15. Place the power supply on the shelf inside the cabinet.

16. Make sure the Power Supply device cord is unplugged.

17. Connect the power connections from the following cables to the power outlets on the power supply (P/N 525-0001-066):

ISO IN-CAB 9P Simulator cable (P/N 115-7300-181)
IBBC Power cable (P/N 115-7300-184)
DirecSteer Simulator RS1 cable (P/N 115-0172-681)

18. Connect the device cord to the power strip.

Verification of the Latest Software Versions

1. Select settings button (lower-left corner).

2. Select Software Update.

3. Verify software versions on ECUs.

If older software is installed, updates are required. See the Raven RS1 Calibration and Operation Manual for more information.

4. Once verified, exit the System Manager screen.

Configuration of the Machine Profile

1. Select the User Terminal (UT) button.

2. Select the Steering widget.

3. Accept the Operator Liability Waiver.

4. Select the first profile labeled “Available” and select the Next button.

5. Select DEMO as the machine type.

6. Select Internal GPS Simulator for the Machine Make.

7. Select RS1 Speed Source for Machine Model.

8. Your Guidance setup should auto-fill with Auto for the Guidance Partner. Select the Next button.

9. Enter the machine dimensions that were set up on the Viper 4+ and select the Next button.

10. Select Steering Only under the Omni System Automation Level.

RTK Setup

1. Select SBAS in the Differential Source drop-down and select the Next button.

2. Wait until converged, then select the Next button.

Calibration of the Terrain Compensation

1. Accept the default node orientation.

2. Turn the speed dial up to get the distance required above 32.8 feet (9.9974 meters).

3. Select the Next arrow after reading the directions.

4. Make sure the speed dial is set to Off for 0 speed and select the Calibrate button twice.

5. After terrain compensation is complete, select the Next button.

Test the Resume Switch

1. On the Verify Resume Switch screen, the icon will turn from red to green when you toggle the Resume Switch. Test this out, then select the Next button.

2. On the Disengage Calibration screen, turn the steering wheel at a typical rate and then select the Next button.

Setting the Left Wheel Angle Sensor Value

1. Using the speed dial, drive the machine 1-4 MPH.

2. Turn the steering wheel to the left until a current sensor voltage of 1.00V is achieved. If you turn too far, turn the opposite direction.

3. Select the Left input value highlighted in blue. This sets the Left Wheel Angle Sensor value.

Setting the Center Wheel Angle Sensor Value

1. Turn the steering wheel to the right until the current sensor voltage reads 2.50V.

2. Select the Center input value highlighted in blue. This sets the Center Wheel Angle Sensor value.

Setting the Right Wheel Angle Sensor Value

1. Turn the steering wheel to the right until the current sensor voltage reads 4.00V.

2. Select the Right input value highlighted in blue. This sets the Right Wheel Angle Sensor value.

3. Select the Next button.
