Hawkeye 2 Diagnostic Cables

The Hawkeye 2 diagnostic cable kit comes with useful tools to help you identify potential problems with the system.

Please note when working with the system cabling, be sure to check for and avoid causing damage to connectors and seals. Also inspect for damaged pins or corrosion.

Now let’s look at each item included in the kit.

The 19-pin jumpers let you isolate sections of the boom cabling, which basically creates a smaller CAN bus. For example, you can use these jumpers to test half of the boom or just the middle section.

Revision B of the diagnostic kit also comes with 19-pin jumpers of the opposite connector. These jumpers are designed for Aim Command FLEX™ II systems. If you are working with an Aim Command FLEX™ II system, use either jumper type depending on where you are connecting.

The 8-pin jumpers let you bypass a problematic nozzle control valve so you can index the system. You can use one or more on either side of the boom.

The kit includes diagnostic cables for the 8-pin NCV2 and 19-pin boom connections. Both diagnostic cables have breakout connectors labeled with pinouts and acceptable voltage ranges. To measure the voltage, use the 2-pin adapter with your voltmeter or multimeter and connect to each 2-pin breakout. If you have exposed plugs on your adapter, connect them to your voltmeter or multimeter before you connect to the diagnostic cable. If you leave the adapter attached to a diagnostic cable and then connect that cable to the system, the plugs on the adapter could create a short and then blow a fuse.

A 19-pin jumper can also be used to terminate the end of the 19-pin diagnostic cable if needed.

A new version of the 19-pin diagnostic cable comes in the Revision B kit. The new cable has a fuse that connects High Current Ground 2 and 3. Remove the fuse if you need to test either ground wire individually. Just remember to reinstall the fuse when finished.

The NCV2 bridge diagnostic or repair cable can go between two neighboring NCV connections if there is a cabling issue between NCVs. Please note that the bridge cable needs to go in a specific direction. Just follow the labels to see which way to connect the cable. If needed, you can connect two bridge cables in series to bypass a bad NCV cable drop. The best use for this cable is to temporarily bypass major cable damage if the operator hits something with the outer sections of the boom.

The Revision B kit replaces the NCV bridge cable with a bypass cable that has three NCV connections. This eliminates the need to connect two bridge cables in series.

19-Pin Diagnostic Cable

Revision B of the 115-2005-105 19-pin Boom Signal Breakout cable has an added fuse that connects High Current Gound 2 and 3. This fuse must be removed to isolate either ground pin for testing. Reinstall the fuse when finished.

2-Pin Adapter Cables

The Revision B kit replaces the exposed banana plugs on the 2-pin test adapters with shrouded plugs. The shrouded plugs will attach to a voltmeter/multimeter the same way as the exposed plugs.

NCV Bridge and Bypass Cables

• The 115-2005-109 NCV Bridge cable (Rev A kit) and 115-2005-358 NCV Bypass cable (Rev B kit) are only meant to serve as a temporary solution to major cable damage. It is recommended to replace any damaged section of cabling as soon as possible.
• The 115-2005-358 NCV Bypass cable does not provide voltage for auxiliary functions to the middle 8-pin connectors. Keep this in mind if the machine uses Aux IN and OUT functionality.
